Makeup Facial Cleansing for Tweens and Teens

You may think that washing your face is just well… washing your face. Let me show you a few tips on effectively washing your face to cleanse your skin from oil, dirt and makeup.

Start by washing your hands with soap and water- why wash your face with dirty hands? Wet your face slightly and use a facial cleanser appropriate for your skin type (NOT the bar of soap from the shower). Massage the cleanser into your skin, making sure to reach the hairline and behind the ears. A good way to time your cleansing is to sing “Happy Birthday” twice, letting the product sit on your skin long enough to breakdown the oil and dirt. Rinse your face with water, completely removing the cleanser.

Pat your skin dry gently using a clean washcloth, not that hand towel everyone has been wiping their hands on.

Next is moisturizer. Use a moisturizer with SPF in it to help prevent sun damage and future signs of aging. This is a good habit that will keep your skin looking younger longer. If you are going to be in the sun for an extended period of time, like the beach the zoo- any outdoor activity, consider a higher sunblock made for the face (not the greasy stuff that goes on the body)
Remember- clean skin equals beautiful makeup!
